Christmas is coming......

Ahhhh..... I really can't believe that it's almost time for Christmas again.  I mean seriously, it seems like we were just bundling up in winter coats and tearing through presents and listening to Christmas tunes. It's not that I don't like Christmas or Winter.  To say that I do is an understatement.  I absolutely love the cold months and honestly there is not really a season that I don't like.  I am a girl after my mom's heart when it comes to fall and winter.  I get so excited when we get to bundle up and go outside and play in the snow.  I also get pumped up when I get to help make "The Wright Kid's Snickerdoodles" to serve as a Christmas treat for those who help us out so much all throughout the year.  Another one of my favorite things to do during the Christmas season is to wrap gifts.  Every year I savor all of these traditions.  Because it's snowing today, and because I got to help decorate for Christmas at church, I have become very excited.  So, I thought that I would post a poem about Winter\Christmas that I found.

The Winter Heart

Wish but one wish when winter comes,
Dream but one dream of the past.
The light from a fire is in all our homes
But the flames from the hearth won't last.
For faint and few are the embers,
Snuggle up and keep on your gloves;
What the Winter Heart always remembers
Is the warmth of a heart that loves.

Crafts Page!

Hey check out my new post on my Craft Page!!! :)

Fabulous and Frightening Friday

Hello!  I thought that I would put up a Fascinating and Frightening Friday post because I haven't done one for a while but I decided that I would change it to Fabulous and Frightening Friday because it makes more sense.

Fabulous:

  • Being able to shop from around 11:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m.
  • Wearing a new sweatshirt that Daddy got for me while we were out.
  • Enjoying Vanilla Pepsi chapstick which I also purchased at "O Dark Thirty"
  • Waking up at 11:30 ish this morning.
  • PJ's at 3:00 p.m.
  • Being able to play around with my blog design again and finally getting it to work.
  • Christmas ahead!
  • Instagram.  I like to keep updated on what everyone else is doing.
  • Thanksgiving leftovers! Enough said.
  • Black Friday!!!!
  • Watching Hoops and YoYo while I'm typing!
  • New Headphones!!
Frightening:

  • Waiting in line at Aeropostale for 2 hours or so.
  • The security system in the entrance of Aeropostale going off every five minutes because the line was so long that people had to step out of the store to get in line.
  • Being sleepy.
  • The picture that I posted above.

Really I can't think of much else that was Frightening about my day.  That's a good thing.
How was your Thanksgiving? How was your Black Friday?

I can't wait to hear from you!!!

Random Photos (just because)

I must say it is very hard to find time to post so when I can I like to make it short and sweet.  I am hoping to be able to post weekly again soon but life is so busy.  So until I can post weekly, I will post when I can.  For now.... here are some random pictures that I will put captions on.  These are throwbacks for me.

4!

Yes, she's 4.  Our little Molly Joy is....4.  I can't believe it.

Her favorite part of being 4 is..

2 Vitamins instead of 1.  (3 yrs. and under have to take 1 a day.)  Kate loved the vitamin part when she was 4 too.  Why is this a big deal? I truly don't know.

Here are some photos of Miss Molly:

And last but not least....

Molly,

You are a great little sister.  You are very smart.  Sometimes you say words that I didn't even think you knew.  You are so funny.  You make me laugh all the time.  You are such a big girl.  I remember holding you when you were a baby.  How can you be 4 already?  I love you girl!
Love,
Meg

Pages

Hey Bloggers,

I have recently realized that I haven't been very consistent with the pages on the side of my blog.  On my Ukulele page, I haven't posted any videos.  As soon as I had the idea to post the Hilarious Happenings page, the Hilarious Happenings stopped.  On my Fun Stuff page, I have only posted one fun thing.  I wanted to inform you all that I will be posting more on these pages so don't stop looking.  Have a great Friday evening.  And I guess I'll tell you that when I typed Friday, I literally stood up and did the happy dance. :)

BTW,  I posted pics on my ukulele page if you want to check them out.

VBS Week!

Hey everybody, VBS week is so important to us every year.  One of the reasons is that a dear cousin comes from SC to enjoy the week with us.  I thought that I would blog about our week even though it was a little while ago.

One of the big highlights of the week was playing in the sprinkler together.  One of Sophie's (our cousin) and Kate's favorite things to do was walk in the puddles on the side of the street.  :)

We also did face paint!

We also went to the movies!

We had a blast at VBS in the evening!

Our theme this year was Sonrise National Park!

Sophie,
We had a fabulous week with you.  I can't wait to see you again soon!
Thanks for coming again this year!  Love you!
Megs

Bloggers, I hope to check back with you again soon!

What a Hose Will Do To Your Day

It was hot outside..... but what a beautiful day...... we were all bored..... an awesome cousin had just left after staying almost a week with us for VBS. :(  I will post about our wonderful week together very soon.

So after wandering around the house what seemed to be a million times a sibling had an idea to try using a ball pump to to blow up our bike tires because our bike pump broke.  That didn't work so we looked at a mattress pump.  It had a bike feature on it!  Mom pumped up everyone's bikes.  We started riding them.... it was just too hot.  So for the third day in a row we got out the hose except this time our fantastic cousin wasn't here to enjoy the cool showers with us. :(

Long story short..... it's amazing what a little hose will do to your day!

New Page

Hi,  It has been a super long time and we have been so busy.  I have figured out a solution though.  Yes, I will try to post more often.  Also, I am going to make a new page.  It is going to be called: Hilarious Happenings!  What is it for?  Well, lately I have found weird "pictures" just laying around the house.  Example: A baseball glove on top of a church bulletin.  I didn't put it there.  Another Example: Mom's reading glasses and Kate's play glasses side by side on the countertop.  Once again, I didn't set it up.  I have been wishing that I would have taken a picture of each of these and posted it as a time filler on my blog, but I just didn't get around to it.  So from now on, anytime I see things like these, I will take a picture and post it on this New Page.  I hope you like it!  I hope to post again soon!

MOOsic to My Ears!

I am going to post a birthday blog soon but in the mean time I thought I should post something since it's been a while!

This post is going to be about music.

Music to Me
by Megan

Music to me is like tulips to roses
Music to me is like polish on your toes (es)
Music to me is like lightening to thunder
Music to me is like flip-flops to summer
Music to me is like ocean and sand
Music to me is like saying I can!
The best part of music is being able to express myself
AND...
That's what music is to ME!

Here are some pictures that I think say MUSIC!

When looking at pics be sure to listen to the Entertainer.

Oh Yeah!  Toy Story definitely get's credit for putting music in their movies.  One word..... Squeaky! :)

Have a great weekend!  Check back soon!

Two Awesome Conferences

These past two weekends, (or so) I have attended two wonderful conferences. The first one was YOUTHANASIA (dying to self, living for Jesus, changing the world.)  It was held at our church.  It was a blast.  We played four square too!  Some topics that we learned about were leadership, and spiritual gifts.  We got to spend the weekend with some of our friends and we had an awesome time.

The second conference was the Great Homeschool Convention in SC.  We learned a lot and we got to meet some exciting people.  One exciting person that we got to meet was Andrew Pudewa who teaches IEW (Institute for Excellence in Writing) through video.  We got to do IEW with our homeschool group and I enjoyed it a lot. The second exciting person we got to meet was Jim Weiss who does audio stories for Great Hall Productions.  He was Cole's favorite.  The third exciting person we got to meet was Monica Irvine from the Etiquette Factory.  We learned some new manners and reviewed some old ones with her.  Another exciting person I got to hear speak on purity was Sarah Mally who wrote Before You Meet Prince Charming.  This book is aimed for younger girls (11,12, 13 yrs.) because a lot of other books on purity are very detailed.  Older girls can read it too though.  I snagged a copy of this book and I am greatly enjoying it so far.  The Great Homeschool Convention was a very exciting conference that I enjoyed for my first time.

I hope this catches you up a little bit on what I have been up to recently.  Have a super weekend.

Another Book Complete!

You know you've read a good book when you turn the last page and feel a little as if you have lost a friend.  ~Paul Sweeney

So true.  An interesting thing that I have discovered about myself this year is that I like non-fiction books a tad bit better than fiction books.  Tonight I finished a great non-fiction book and savored every page within.  It is called: from Blah to Awe: shaking up a boring faith by Jenna Lucado Bishop.  You can find it on Amazon {here.}

One of my favorite chapters of this entire book was probably the last one which has a retelling of the Bible story: the woman at the well.  Jenna retells the story using a waitress named Mary-Margaret who resides in No Water Texas and has had a rough life.  Mary-Margaret has been going with the wrong people,  thinking that each one will be different then the last.  But everyone of her relationships has just not turned out right.  One day, a man named Josh walks into the restaurant that Mary-Margaret is currently working in.  He says that he would like a cup of water because he is thirsty from his tiring travels.  He says that he likes the water because it quenches his thirst.  He says what he doesn't like about the water is that he soon will have to stop again and get more water because it only quenches your thirst temporarily.  Then he proceeded to tell Mary-Margaret that she is drinking from the wrong well.  He then gave her his business card which read:

Living Water Corp.
Joshua, Founder and CEO
4John@samaria.com

I loved Jenna's retelling of the woman at the well and it made the characters come alive!  That is why this is one of my favorite chapters in this book.

This book answers the question why am I bored with God with several different answers.  Here are some of them:

. We are bored with God because we don't see the brokenness in our own hearts; therefore we do not see the need for Jesus.

. We are bored with God because we live in a world that is all about our physical senses, blinding us to the world beyond what we see, hear, taste, touch, and smell.

.We are bored with God because we tend to worship a God we have created with our finite minds.  When we worship a limited god, our faith is limited.

. We are bored with God because it is more accepted by the world, and at times we feel a deeper need to be accepted by the world than by God.

There are many more answers to this question and to go along with them there are ways to prevent boredom with God.  Also there are answers to the question: Does God care if I am bored with Him?  But to find out the rest of the answers to those questions you are going to have to read the book! :)

Also when reading this book, Jenna reminded me (and I would like to remind you) the following:
The goal of this book is not to provide a perfect vibrant faith. It is not going to give you a fix-it-all  formula for a faith filled with awe 24/7.  But the goal of this book is to shake you up.  It is to remind you to quit settling for a faith that is dull, boring, blah.  And hopefully it will shake you up as it did me.

I hope you all have a great weekend!  Happy reading!

Oh wind on a Friday!

Today it is SUCH a windy day!  So I took some pics!  And I have a poem to go along with them!  I have actually memorized it as a part of school.  It is, Who Has Seen the Wind by Christina Rossetti.

Who has seen the wind?

Neither I nor you:

But when the leaves hang trembling
The wind is passing through.

Who has seen the wind?

Neither you nor I:
But when the trees bow down their heads
The wind is passing by.
:)

Hope you all are having a great day!  It is a nice day for me because I get to stay inside during this COLD   weather.  I don't know if I have ever mentioned that Friday is my favorite day of the week by far!  Do you know why?  Because of Friday night of course!  For us kiddos at the Wright Place that usually means that staying up super late will be involved!  I LOVE staying up late!  On some Friday mornings, I will come down the stairs with a smile on my face and my dad will say "I can see your face is lit up!  It's Friday you
know!"  Fridays are fabulous!  So what is your Friday containing?
Stay warm and have a great day!
